The Google Pixel 2 was widely considered one of the best smartphones around, but can the same be said for its predecessor?
So, the Google Pixel 3 has been officially unveiled, but the question is, is it any good?
Read on to find out...
When will the Google Pixel 3 be released?
The Google Pixel 3 (and the Pixel 3 XL) were announced on 9 October 2018. They're available to pre-order right now, and will most likely be available November 1.
How much will the Google Pixel 3 cost?
The Google Pixel 3 costs £739 for the standard version, and £839 for the 64 and 128 GB versions of the phone.
That’s cheaper than an iPhone or Samsung Galaxy, but still quite a lot of cash to splash. As ever, a pay monthly contract will spread the cost if you can’t afford to spend that much all at once.
Google Pixel 3 design and features
Here’s a few specs and features on the standard sized Pixel 3 that caught our eye:
- Display - The Pixel 3 has a 5.5in full HD screen. Google took a bit of critical flak for the size of the bezel on the Pixel 2, hence why the display now sits much flusher to the side, though still does not encompass the entirety of the front.
- Operating system - The Pixel 3 will utilise Android Pie 9.0 out of the box, which means there should be some notable improvements to navigation, enabling you to get to apps and messages much faster than before.
- Cameras - Here's where the Pixel 3 really shines; The phone has a single, 12.2 MP rear-facing camera and front 8 MP dual cameras capable of producing crystal-clear images. It’s got an improved Visual Core chip, which will allow for all kinds of clever photography features, including HDR and great low light capabilities. They’ll also allow for better bokeh effects - something the iPhone XS and XS Max also focus on.
- Wireless charging - Both the Pixel 3 ad the 3 XL will be the first Google phones to support wireless charging. Hurah!
Google Pixel 3 specs
The Google Pixel 3 sports a powerful Snapdragon 845 processor, along with a 2,915mAh battery and 4GB of RAM.
Admittedly, you'll find more impressive specs on the latest offerings from Apple and Samsung. But the fact the phone boasts Android Pie 9.0 should mean it'll last all day. Fingers crossed, anyway.
